Frequently asked questions
New to Astral? Start with how it works.
How do you use AI in this process?
AI reads and compares; Astral's own code does the scoring. The AI model compares each job description against customized criteria, and AI is used to draft your content. The prompts are tuned to be faithful to facts and never to give an unfounded opinion.
In short, we use AI to play to its strengths: pattern matching against specifics, never math or vague rating scales.
Why filter so much if I need work soon?
Because a callback for the wrong job rarely turns into an offer. Mass applying does get responses, but many of them lead to conversations about poor-fit roles that usually go to better-matched candidates. Focusing on strong fits raises the odds that a callback becomes a hire.
Filtering doesn't mean a small net, either. For full-time roles especially, we watch a curated roster of hundreds to thousands of companies and check every one daily, so a good match reaches you as soon as it's posted.
Do you use LinkedIn or Indeed?
Not directly. Aggregators want you searching on their platform, and many block automated access, so we go to the source instead: companies' own careers pages.
For anything you find yourself, paste in the job description or forward the listing or a recruiter's email, and Astral sizes it up the same way. A browser extension to make that one click is on our wish list.
Does this replace the grind of job hunting?
No, but it makes it a lot lighter. As you find jobs, Astral gives you an honest read on the role and your chances, and drafts tailored materials in minutes, so your time goes into the decisions only you can make.
Why won't you just apply for me?
Because applying on your behalf would defeat the purpose. Your application should come from you, sound like you, and go only where you've decided you want to go. Ideally, the jobs we surface are ones you'll actually enjoy applying for.
How do I get started?
Request a seat. If we have room,Join the waitlist. When a seat opens up, we'll set up a private Slack channel where we talk through your work history, priorities, and dealbreakers, at your pace. From that, we build a structured “base” resume and the criteria we use to assess every job.
All you need to bring is what you already have: one or more resumes, cover letters you liked, and any professional profiles (LinkedIn, Upwork, and so on). We draft everything else.
What does it cost?
Right now, nothing. Astral is in an early pilot, and I’m covering the costs while we prove it works.
What happens to my data?
Your work history is analyzed by AI models to grade jobs and draft materials. We minimize what we send, never sell your data, and will publish exactly which providers we use and how they handle data in our privacy policy. If you'd like extra anonymity, tell us and we'll work with you.
Does it actually WORK?
Honestly, we don't know yet. Astral is new, and this pilot is how we find out whether careful matching really turns into more interviews and offers. That's exactly why it's free for candidates right now: you're helping us prove it, so you shouldn't have to pay for the experiment.
Even in the worst case, you walk away with something useful: a carefully revised base resume that reflects your genuine strengths, yours to keep for every future application.
